Try Events a Canadian Company
How did Mitchell Hudson become so passionate about hosting walking and running events?
Here is his story……. Mitchell Hudson, started out as an avid Tricyclest back in 1977 and ruled the streets of Coquitlam, BC. After finding the streets on three wheels a bore he moved to the soccer field as a defense man and then the pool where he went through all the swim lesson levels before the age of 9. Mitchell competed as summer swimmer for 14 years and swam for Montgomery Middle School Team, Centennial High School Team and the Coquitlam Sharks! After high school Mitchell became a dancer…..yeah that’s right! Mitchell turned all his athletic skills into a dancing machine! It was very common to see him come home to sleep when the sun was coming out. After Mitchell hung up his dancing shoes he started to get into skiing, snowboarding, downhill mountain biking, hiking and hitting the gym. At the age of 22 Mitchell came up with an idea that would push him physically and mentally and signed up for the Canadian Military under the profession of Infantry. Infantry is the back bone of any military and under goes the most rigorous training especially the Canadian Military! With absolutely no pre-military experiences Mitchell graduated Basic Training at the top of his platoon winning the Lieutenant Colonel Award as the top athletic performer. At this time he marched right out of there and signed up for a Marathon Clinic with the Denman Running Room. Completing the clinic and his first marathon at a time of 3 hours and one minute Mitchell was addicted! While going to Langara College with goals of completing a Health and Fitness degree and some great entrepreneur and small business management classes Mitchell started his 6 year career with the Running Room. Mitchell worked at the City Square, Hamilton, High Park and Langley locations as a store manager teaching all levels of clinics from Walking, Learn to Run to Marathon and of course during these years he was racing as many times as he could! He didn’t have a specific distance he loved to race he just LOVED TO RACE! To date he has been to events all over the world including London, Lisbon, Hawaii and South Carolina’s Cooper River Bridge Run! After succeeding to the level as area manager with Running Room Mitchell knew his passion for promoting health and fitness was barely starting which brings us to the birth of TRY EVENTS. J
TRY EVENTS was founded in 2004 with the goal of providing quality, ethically minded walking, jogging and running events to the Lower Mainland; up until that time, there were very few races outside of the Vancouver area. The founders of TRY EVENTS, Mitchell Hudson & Pat Palmiere, realized the potential of the Lower Mainland venues: quiet streets, unique features (wildlife reserves, parks, lakes), history, lots of passionate runners and walkers, active families and people committed to developing community.
The Chilly Chase 5k, 10k, 15K & Kids Run was one of its' first races and turned out to be an exciting start to the TRY EVENTS BC Race Series. To this day, Mitchell Hudson sole owner and operator of TRY EVENTS hosts 10 races and has donated thousands of dollars and awareness for our local Charity Give Partners.
Mitchell Hudson / TRY EVENTS is committed to functioning ethically and is always working towards improving how we work with other businesses and the environment!
